Happy Earth Day! 5 Small Ways to Reduce Your Footprint 🌏

Happy Earth Day! 5 Small Ways to Reduce Your Footprint 🌏

Earth Day is coming up on the 22nd of April! 🌏 Now is an ideal time to reflect on simple ways to reduce our eco-footprint. Below are five simple hacks we hope will inspire you to live a little greener this Earth Day... and beyond!  👣

1. Choose Eco-friendly Art Supplies 🖍️: Getting creative with crayons, paints, and more is a whole lot of fun for little artists! But did you know that many products are made using petrochemicals and potentially toxic pigments? 😢 This is all bad news for Mother Earth (and these are certainly not products you’ll want your little artist chewing on.)

The swap? Switch out those conventional art supplies for more earth-friendly options - Honeysticks products are crafted with natural and non-toxic ingredients, making them a whole lot safer for little artists, but also a whole lot kinder on the planet 🌎 Choosing eco-friendly art supplies means fewer chemicals and pollutants being released into the air and waterways during production. Because there is no planet bee! 🐝

 2. Cut Down on Single-Use Plastic 🛍️: Swap out the plastic water bottle for a reusable one, and don’t forget to grab your own reusable bags on your way out the door to do some shopping. Teaching children these habits from a young age will help them take the reusable mindset with them into their schooling years.

3. Increase Your Veggies 🥦: Reducing meat where possible and increasing veggies can be simple and nutritious step to reducing your carbon footprint. For example, you could onboard the children to give meatless Mondays a whirl, or opt for local, organic produce. Make veggies more exciting for the kids to eat by turning them into art; think a mashed potato veggie face, or a colorful veggie rainbow! 🌈

4. New Ways to get from A to B 🚲: Swap out the car where you can and catch some extra vitamin D by walking, biking, or jumping on public transport. Where possible, teach your little ones the lifelong skill of riding a bike that they can pick up when they’re old enough!

Getting to school? Carpooling or starting a walking bee can be great ways of getting the little ones to the classroom – while also saving you some driving time! 🚶🏻

5. Reuse & Recraft 👨🏻‍🎨: During the next art project, give your recyclables a new life! Check out our Instagram for inspo, such as some amazing bottle top bees ♻️ The box from our Ultimate Activity Pack can also be reused for a fun puppet show craft idea – check it out, here!

Remember, it’s the little things that all add up! Happy Earth Day! 🌱
